From the Mines to You – The Process

In order to bring you the most beautiful opals in Australia we travel great distances to exceptionally remote mines in outback Australia, often in extreme summer temperatures.

Max Lane spent many decades as a qualified pilot, flying his small plane to Longreach airport (In North West Queensland) often landing on a remote rocky makeshift runway, then driving great distances with William or Alex to reach the isolated mines and meet with our miners.

We then source the huge pieces of Boulder opal, bring them back to our cutting room in Sydney to be ‘blocked out’, before cutting and buffing to reveal the gem quality natural boulder opal inside. The final polish reveals the exceptional flashes of colour of each Opal.
